An Afternoon in Aylmer Part 2

Following on from my previous entry, I took these photos to capture the more yang energy of Aylmer yesterday. By contrast to the peacefulness and solitude witnessed on one side of the harbour, on the other side I found a beach full of happy, excited children...and adults...playing in the water, eating, drinking, generally enjoying a beautiful summers day. Many boats came and went from the harbour, in various shapes and sizes...from one-man kayaks to some very impressive yachts and then there were the kite-surfers who were beautiful and fascinating to watch!

The mood was vibrant...more tangible and somewhat bustling...and it felt good to be around these happy people. Just breathing it in.

My limited skills (and lenses) didn't allow me to do it all justice, but this is what I did get.....

An Afternoon in Aylmer

There is a yin and a yang element to all things in life. My first visit to Aylmer yesterday was no exception. The opposing moods struck me both physically and within my photography. Both were beautiful and the best thing about it all was the balance between them. I certainly left Aylmer feeling more balanced and alive than I did when I arrived. Very much like my yin/yang yoga practice.

This first entry captures just a few of the yin elements that I experienced....so quiet, peaceful, calm and even the colour tones are cool....

Just out for a drive

I love how quiet some of the roads are around here and so close to our home in the midst of suburbia...sometimes it pays to take the long way home....

Mellow Manotick

One of my favourite local places to Be. Such a peaceful place where you can walk, snap..and get a good lunch..or glass of wine...

Snapping is the New Blogging

I've not felt in the mood to blog lately. The last few weeks have been more of a journaling time. I have however found comfort in photography and in quiet places. So just for now, my pictures are my words.

Domestic Bliss

Yes...I am still loving being Home. It's so very comforting. Despite the relative spontaneity of the trip, the Timing it seems, is perfect. Funny how these things have a way of working themselves out, even if you don't realise it until later on.

I flip between moments of pure and simple relaxation...a simple joy at Being Home during such a lovely summer and a rather unfamiliar level of Excitement during which I have thoughts of all sorts of things Domestic. I did pick up the paint colour charts in Home Depot last time we were there...I couldn't resist. Now I keep wandering from room to room imagining how certain colours would look at different times of day in various rooms...it takes me back to the days when I was seriously thinking about switching careers (not for the first time) and branching into interior design...there is something about colour and texture, about creating a living space that is just so satisfying. Of course I never did go down that path in the end, I started and didn't finish. Instead I experimented in my own small space and that had to suffice at the time. Now I have a much larger canvas..a whole house..to experiment with and it's very exciting!
